Principal's Message

Dear Center High Community,
I am honored to have been selected by the Center Joint Unified School District and the Center High School staff to be your principal for the 2017-18 school year at Center High. I apologize that I am writing you after we have already been in school for a week and a half as I have been working diligently to acclimate myself to a new position and district.
Most recently I was a high school vice principal in Woodland and was a teacher and junior high vice principal in the Twin Rivers (formerly Grant) district prior to that. This is my 14th year in education and I am very humbled and excited to lead Center High School in the years to come.
I am very excited to work with the teachers on campus to continue to grow the programs on campus. We will be looking to increase students’ access to college preparatory and college level courses as well as career technical courses that will provide students with industry level standards. Over the next two years I am looking to establish and implement a School Site Council and Single Plan for Student Achievement to help implement and review site initiatives as currently established by our WASC self-study to meet the needs of Center High students. We will be looking for three parents to be on the council. If you are interested please submit your name to me and we will ask parents to vote on Back-to-School Night on September 6, 2017.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to call Bernadette Poor, office manager at (916)338-6422 or email me at Thank you for all of your support and I look forward to a fun and successful school year. GO COUGARS!
Jerald Ferguson Principal, Center High School
